Working With Disabilities
There's a variety of support available for people with disabilities and how to help them gain experience in work, or to have a full time job. Some people may think they don't have the required skills, but there are specialist organisations that have been set up to help you along.
Ability Net
AbilityNet is a national charity helping disabled adults and children use computers and the internet by adapting and adjusting their technology. Their special expertise is ensuring that whatever your age, health condition, disability or situation you find exactly the right way to adapt or adjust your ICT to make it easier to use.

Ashville Training
All people on training/work experience will have a named member of staff who will assist in work assessments and work reviews. All work locations and training is to be monitored by a named Senior Officer of Social Services.
All people on training or work experience are expected to attend at least one Adult Education course which is relevant to their work placement or training. All people on placement with Ashville are expected to attend Health & Safety training, First Aid Training and in the catering projects all people must obtain the basic food handling certificates (with the opportunity of gaining further relevant qualifications if this is their desire).

Bert Denning Centre
A purpose built centre in Brynmawr which caters for adults with severe and multiple disabilities. The centre has a snoezlantm room, a hydrotherapy pool and specialist equipment and adaptions and offers a range of activity programmes, which focus on individual needs.

Cer Amdani
Taking that step from school or college into adult life is a major leap for all of us. Considering our options, especially regarding employment is something we all need help with. Mencap Cymru has been supporting people who have a learning disability to find employment for many years. We have recognised that we need to be working with people at a younger age in order to help them achieve their aspirations. Cer Amdani! (Go for it!) is a new venture which will help us to achieve this goal.
