Aneurin Bevan is well known as the founder of the NHS, but he was from Tredegar and was the member or parliment for Blaenau Gwent. In his memory, there are a set of stones between Ebbw Vale and Tredegar.
A place with a wealth of history, its well worth a visit. Bedwelty Park, located in Tredegar, is well known, not just by locals but people from all over the country.
The Eisteddfod has a great historic past and has been around for hundreds of years. In 2010, it returns to Blaenau Gwent for the first time since 1958.
The Garden Festival in 1992 was the last in Britain. The last of the five was hosted in Ebbw Vale and is now known as the Festival Park, housing a shopping centre, fishing club, houses and an owl sanctuary.
St Illtyd's church is without doubt the oldest standing building within the County Borough of Blaenau Gwent. Although currently dedicated to St Illtyd, the original dedication of the church was to St. Heledd or Hyledd
