Your Child's Speech and Language Development
Your child's speech and language skills are vital to them, but some parents, new and even existing ones, can find it difficult to encourage their child. This page will help you with this.
Language and Play
Language and Play (LAP) and Number and Play (NAP) are short programmes funded by Basic Skills Cymru and Flying Start for parents and carers in Wales who have children aged 0-3 years. The LAP programme aims to share ideas and activities over six sessions and the NAP programme over five sessions.
The main aims of these programems are:
** to improve literacy and numeracy development of children in their Early Years.
** to familiarise parents / carers and young children with Welsh phrases, rhymes, songs and sharing books.
** to encourage and explore communication and methods of play.
** to develop parent / carer confidence in their ability to support their child's Early Years development.
** to prepare children for learning when they start school through developing their social and fine motor skills.
